I think the membership should be an annual period from Jan 1st and you have until Jan 25th to Pay each year and if you want to send a reminder out IRO say - Dec 15th that would be enough. Anyone joining in the year would be liable for a pro-rata fee. Just my 2c

What is the reasoning behind the due date being 1st Jan but you only have to pay by 25 Jan Paul?

If you know that it is due on 1st Jan, you would have known that by 5 Dec, so why not pay by 1st Jan if you knew it was due. Why not then make it 25 Feb for incase you forget to pay by 25 Jan?

well 1st Jan is the beginning of the new year - thus an "annual" membership and yes people could pay prior if they wanted to but being the holiday period a "grace" period to the 25th should get everyone sorted. Simple I think but just my view.
